September 16th - Katherine and Beth
Talked about high math groups and using pre-assessment data. Looked at Unit 2 (about parallel and perpendicular lines, quadrilaterals and triangles, and perimeter, very short unit) to find challenging activities for her students to complete independently after they are done their work. Suggested using tangrams for a center. She would need copies of tangrams and activities for the students to follow. I also saw an art connection activity in the teacher's manual that related their math work to real life by finding measurements to make a frame for a piece of artwork. After they found the measurements, they could make their own piece of art (possibly using the tangram pieces) and then measuring and creating a frame made of paper for their piece of art. I will type this up and share it with Jen and Beth. Maybe Beth could be in charge of sharing this with the rest of her team since I'm only here on Thursday's (develop team leaders?).
